Prof. Uwe Schneidewind

Prof. Uwe Schneidewind is a German politician (Green Party) and economist. He has been Mayor of the Bergisch city of Wuppertal since November 1, 2020. Schneidewind, who is one of the 100 most influential economists in Germany, was President of the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy in Wuppertal until 2020. He studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1986 to 1991. Schneidewind has been a member of the Club of Rome since 2011. He was also a board member of the Association for Ecological Economic Research (VÖW). From 2013 to February 2020, he was a member of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU).
