Health is everyone's business

The Corona crisis has shown us that our health and care system is well set up – we have nothing to be ashamed of, especially in international comparison. So everything is fine, right? Wrong! Despite all the applause for the way we handled the Corona pandemic, health and care workers are still suffering from a lack of social recognition.

Healthcare in transition: recognition and reforms for a better future

Young people rarely choose a career in care. The shortage of professionals is a daily challenge in all our care facilities. Medical care in rural areas still has some catching up to do. The opportunities offered by digitalization are only beginning to be felt in hospitals. Tight budgets are making it even harder for care workers to focus on patients rather than hastily ticking boxes on a checklist. The reforms that have already been introduced need to be embedded in the daily lives of nurses. Negotiations on further changes should be on the agenda.

Shaping the health and care system together

The challenges facing the health and care system are many and complex and require concerted and determined action. Only if the experience gained in day-to-day work is fed into the political decision-making process can reforms be properly designed. At the same time, new controls must be implemented as quickly as possible in the daily lives of care workers, hospitals and voluntary organizations, and they must be transparent and comprehensible. From round tables for care staff to dialogue events – ifok facilitates a close exchange of opinions and information between those on the ground and those who have to make decisions. And because of the high dynamics and pressing challenges, there’s one thing that’s really important to us: we never lose sight of the people – the patients and, above all, those who provide care and healthcare with a great deal of empathy and enormous commitment. Every single day. From roundtable discussions for nursing staff to dialog events – ifok enables a close exchange of opinions and information between those on the ground and those who have to make decisions. And precisely because of the high level of dynamism and the pressing challenges, one thing is very important to us: we never lose sight of the people: the patients and, above all, the people who provide nursing and medical care every day with a great deal of empathy and dedication.

Off-the-peg solutions are not what we do.
