One Health: Sustainable and healthy

Health is only possible in a sustainable way. Sustainability is only possible with a healthy planet. That’s One Health. We put it into practice.

Health and natural resources

They clean the air, regulate the climate, provide food, and keep us healthy. Global ecosystems provide us with vital services, worth over 100 trillion euros annually. The destruction of these foundations threatens our prosperity—and our health. Three out of four new infectious diseases originate from the animal kingdom. Since COVID-19, this has become all too familiar. 60% of the world’s population is directly affected by the destruction of nature.

Our well-being is closely linked to a healthy environment. Sounds simple, but the challenges this brings are not:

How do we integrate “health into all policies”? That is, how do we keep our healthcare system fair and sustainable?
Which communication concepts promote acceptance and behavioral changes to promote biodiversity?
How can we work together across sectors to ensure the health of humans, animals and the environment?

This requires not only scientific findings from the environment and research, but also modern health communication and campaigns and comprehensive, effective sustainability strategies.

Rethink health holistically

We help our clients embed human and environmental health in policymaking. Our approach: interdisciplinary collaboration. For us, this also includes agriculture and forestry, food marketing, hospitals, and healthcare professionals: The stakeholders working together for our health couldn’t be more diverse.
We bring them together to embed environment, sustainability, and health across all policy areas – Health in All Policies.

FAQs

One Health is an integrative approach that combines health, sustainability, and environmental protection. It is about considering the health of humans, animals, and the environment as a whole in politics and society.

One Health is important because our health is closely linked to the health of the environment and animals. Protecting our ecosystems is therefore crucial to our own well-being and prosperity.
